How Booking Works

From choosing a valley to the first tasting in four steps.

  1. Pick a Valley and a Format

Maipo for several wineries close to the city, Casablanca for cool-climate whites and the coast, Colchagua for a long private day. Then choose shared, private, half-day or with lunch.

  2. Choose a Date on Viator or GetYourGuide

Each tour links to the platform that sells it. Where both platforms sell the same day, we show both so you can compare the price before you pay.

  3. Get Your Confirmation

Your voucher arrives by email. Shared tours can be cancelled by the operator if too few people book, in which case you are offered another date or a refund.

  4. Meet Your Guide in Santiago

Most full-day tours collect you from your hotel in central Santiago; some half-day tours meet at a set point in the city. Your voucher says which.

How the Day Runs

The Maipo Four-Winery Day, in Order

Four tastings, two full guided visits and a lunch break fit into about 10 hours because the Maipo Valley starts so close to Santiago. This is the order the operator lists, though it notes the wineries can be swapped around on the day.

  1. From 7:30 am — collection in Santiago — Stamp's Tour picks up from hotels and Airbnbs in set parts of the city. The exact time comes by WhatsApp or email after 8 pm the night before, and the drive south takes about 40 minutes.
  2. La Quirinca — farm, wine and pisco — A small family farm opens the day. You walk its gardens and work areas, meet the alpacas, llamas and chickens, and taste its wine alongside Chilean pisco.
  3. Santa Ema — still and sparkling — An Italian-Chilean producer dating from 1956, pouring both still and sparkling wines.
  4. About 12:30 pm — TerraMater — Lunch break at the Zinfandel restaurant, with an olive oil shop on site. The meal is in the price only on the Traditional + Lunch Included option; on the others you pay there or bring food.
  5. Last stop — Undurraga or Viña Ballek — The Premium Route finishes with Undurraga's full tour: four premium wines, the grounds, the barrel cellar and a display of pre-Columbian pieces. The Traditional options end with a relaxed tasting among Viña Ballek's vines by the Maipo River.
  6. About 6:00 to 6:30 pm — drop-off — The air-conditioned van returns you to your accommodation in the early evening.

Choose the Valley, Then the Tour

Three wine valleys are within a day trip of Santiago, and each one suits a different traveller. Pick the valley first and the right tour is usually obvious.

If you have one day and wine is the point of it, book the Maipo Valley Wine Tour: 4 Wineries, Pisco Tasting and Optional Lunch. Stamp’s Tour collects you from your hotel or Airbnb, pours at four wineries in about 10 hours, and charges from $119 per person. It is rated 4.9 from 2,725 reviews on Viator, more than any other winery-focused tour on this site. The same operator sells the day on GetYourGuide from $149, with 4.8 from 620 GetYourGuide reviews, so the Viator listing is the cheaper way in.

That pick suits most first-time visitors, but not everyone. Three wine valleys sit within a day trip of Santiago, and they answer different wishes: Maipo for the wine itself, Casablanca for cool-climate whites or a day that also takes in the coast, and Colchagua for a long, private, premium day. Choose the valley first and the tour list shrinks to two or three candidates.

Maipo: when the wine is the whole point

The Maipo Valley is the wine country on Santiago’s doorstep. Chile’s tourism board puts the first vineyards about 50 km from the city, roughly an hour by road, and calls the valley the cradle of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. Because it is so close, it has the deepest choice of tours and the widest range of lengths, from an hour inside the city to a full day at four estates.

The four-winery day above is the default. It starts at the La Quirinca family farm with wine and Chilean pisco, continues to Santa Ema and TerraMater, and ends at Undurraga on the Premium Route or at Viña Ballek on the Traditional options. Lunch is in the price only on the Traditional + Lunch Included option. If you would sooner see the famous names, Concha y Toro, Santa Rita and Undurraga all take visitors, and our Maipo Valley wine tours page sets the multi-winery days against the single-estate visits.

Two single estates have their own pages. For Concha y Toro, founded in Pirque in 1883 and home of the Casillero del Diablo cellar, the Marqués de Casa Concha Tasting is a 5-hour trip by Turistik bus with ten wines and a cheese board, from $135 and rated 4.9 from 1,223 reviews on Viator. See Concha y Toro tours. For Undurraga, founded in 1885 in Talagante, Undurraga Vineyard Tour and Tasting with Hotel Transfer is from $60 with 4.8 from 92 GetYourGuide reviews, about 4 to 4.5 hours door to door. See Undurraga winery tours.

Casablanca: cool whites, or wine with the coast

Casablanca lies about 80 km west of Santiago on Ruta 68, around an hour’s drive depending on traffic, on the way to Valparaíso. Morning fog off the Pacific keeps it cool, and the valley is best known for Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, with Pinot Noir as its other signature grape. Casablanca tours split into two different products, and it matters which one you book.

For a dedicated wine day, the Four Casablanca Wineries tour visits Emiliana, Bodegas RE and Casa del Molle, then stops for lunch at Tanino, the restaurant at Casas del Bosque. It is from $139 with 4.8 from 646 reviews on Viator, groups are capped at 15, and the Tanino lunch is at your own cost. The Casablanca Valley 4 Vineyards tour swaps Casa del Molle for Viñamar, is from $149, rated 4.9 from 144 reviews on Viator, and also leaves lunch to you.

For the coast, the Valparaíso and Viña del Mar Coast Tour with Casablanca Wine Tasting is the most-reviewed tour on this site: 4.9 from 8,341 reviews on Viator, from $75. It is a sightseeing day first. You walk the hills of Valparaíso, whose historic quarter is a UNESCO World Heritage site, ride one funicular, see Viña del Mar, and taste at a single Casablanca vineyard on the way back. Its GetYourGuide twin, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar and Casablanca Valley Tour, is from $77 with 4.8 from 2,100 GetYourGuide reviews. A second coast-and-tasting day, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar and Casablanca Valley Wine Tour, is from $61 on GetYourGuide with 4.8 from 1,251 reviews. The Casablanca Valley wine tours page compares both kinds of day, and 4-winery tours from Santiago sets the four-stop Maipo day against the four-stop Casablanca days.

Colchagua: the long premium day

Colchagua is a different trip. Santa Cruz, the valley’s centre, is about 180 km south of Santiago, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by road, so a Colchagua day means a lot of driving. Wines of Chile says the valley has Chile’s largest planted area of Carmenère, alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The tours that go there from Santiago are few, mostly private, with small review counts.

Private VIK and Montes Wineries Day Trip pairs Viña VIK, in Millahue in the neighbouring Cachapoal Valley, with an Icon tour at Montes in Apalta. It runs about 11 hours, around five of them in the car, is rated 4.7 from 28 reviews on Viator, and needs at least two adults: $375 each for two, falling to $280 each for seven to ten. Lunch at Fuegos de Apalta is booked for you but paid on the day. The Colchagua Valley wine tours page covers the three private Colchagua days and who should make the drive.

Then choose the shape of the day

Once the valley is settled, four questions decide the rest.

How much time do you have? A half day at one winery takes 3 to 5 hours, and the half-day wine tours page compares the Concha y Toro, Undurraga and Cousiño Macul options. Full days run 7 to 12 hours.

Do you want lunch in the price? Many day tours stop at a winery restaurant where you pay for your own meal. The Santa Rita Winery Day Tour with Lunch includes a three-course lunch and the Andean Museum, from $207 with 4.8 from 426 reviews on Viator; it runs on Wednesdays and Fridays from a Santiago meeting point. See wine tours from Santiago with lunch for which tours really include the meal.

Shared or private? The Private Casablanca Tour: Emiliana, William Cole and Casa del Bosque is from $150 per person with 4.9 from 116 reviews on Viator, an 8-hour day in your own vehicle, and the price may vary with group size. Private Maipo days run higher: the three-estate tour with lunch is $636 each for two. Best private wine tours from Santiago explains how party-size pricing works.

How many wineries? Shared multi-winery days visit three or four; single-estate visits go deeper at one. If you are still unsure, which wine tour from Santiago is right for you puts all 23 tours in one table with a pick for each need.

Viator or GetYourGuide

Most tours on this site are sold on Viator, and several also appear on GetYourGuide as twins: the same operator and route, with separate prices and separate reviews. The gap can be real. The Maipo four-winery day is $119 on Viator and $149 on GetYourGuide, and the private VIK and Montes day is from $375 per person on Viator against from $420 on GetYourGuide. Prices here are each platform’s from-price per person, checked in October 2026. Viator’s review counts include Tripadvisor reviews, which is why its totals run higher.

Before you book

Chile’s zero-tolerance law treats a driver with 0.3 grams of alcohol per litre of blood as under the influence, which is the main reason to let a tour do the driving. The legal drinking age is 18, and several listings ask for ID. Harvest runs from about February to April, sometimes into May, and harvest festivals fill March and April; book ahead in that season.

Where to go next: for a first wine day, the Maipo four-winery tour at the top of this page is the one we would book, and you can check availability now. For the coast, start with Casablanca; for a long private day, read the Colchagua page first.
