How a Half-Day Wine Tour Works

The four choices that shape a short winery visit from Santiago.

  1. Pick the estate

Three Maipo wineries carry almost every short tour. Concha y Toro in Pirque is the big historic name with the devil's cellar, Undurraga in Talagante pairs a French-designed park with reserve wines, and Cousiño Macul sits inside Santiago itself, so it needs the least road time of all.

  2. Choose how you get there

Turistik's buses leave from three fixed meeting points: Plaza de Armas, Av. Vitacura in Las Condes and Parque Arauco. The GetYourGuide trips to Concha y Toro and Undurraga collect you from your hotel instead. Cousiño Macul's own winery tour includes no transport, so you arrive by taxi or ride-hailing app.

  3. The visit itself

Expect roughly one and a half to three hours on the estate. In most cases the winery's own staff lead the walk through gardens, vines and cellars, and the tasting comes at the end or along the route. Turistik's Concha y Toro ticket pours four premium wines; a Marqués upgrade raises that to ten.

  4. Back for the afternoon

Door to door, the transported trips take about 4 to 5 hours, so a morning departure leaves the afternoon free for the city. None of these short tours includes lunch, so eat before you leave or plan a meal on your return. Free cancellation runs to 24 hours before departure.

HALF-DAY GUIDE

Half-Day Wine Tours from Santiago Compared

Which estate, which transport, and what a short trip gives up against a full wine day.

If you have half a day and want the classic Chilean winery visit, book Turistik’s Concha y Toro Premium Wine Center Tour on Viator. It starts from $105 per person, takes about 5 hours from a central Santiago meeting point and back, walks you through the estate’s park, cellars and vines, and ends with four premium wines. It holds 4.8 from 934 reviews on Viator (prices checked October 2026).

GetYourGuide is the stronger platform for short trips with hotel pickup. The Concha y Toro Vineyard Tour with Transfer and Tasting collects you at your hotel from $82 per person, and the Undurraga Vineyard Tour with Hotel Transfer does the same for Undurraga from $60.

A half day from Santiago nearly always means one winery, and three Maipo estates carry almost every short tour: Concha y Toro in Pirque, Undurraga in Talagante and Cousiño Macul, which stands inside the city in Peñalolén. Chile.travel puts the first Maipo vineyards about 50 km from Santiago, roughly an hour by road, which is why one estate fits into a morning or an afternoon. Casablanca and Colchagua tours take the whole day.

Quick picks by what you want

Concha y Toro in half a day: three ways to go

Melchor Concha y Toro founded the winery in Pirque in 1883 with vines brought from Bordeaux, and the visitor centre today has a 22-hectare centennial park, Casa Don Melchor and the Casillero del Diablo cellar, where the story goes that the founder invented a devil to stop his best wines disappearing. Every tour below shows you that cellar.

The Turistik bus is the default. You choose a meeting point at booking (Monjitas 879 near Plaza de Armas, Av. Vitacura 2653 in Las Condes, or Parque Arauco) and arrive 15 minutes early; there is no hotel pickup. About 3 of the 5 hours are spent on the estate, the bus holds up to 28 people, and a single departure may be guided in English, Spanish and Portuguese at once. Some reviewers say waiting at the meeting points cut into their winery time.

The same bus sells a richer finish. The Marqués de Casa Concha Tasting follows the identical route, then sits you down in a private room for six super-premium Marqués de Casa Concha wines and four premium ones, ten in all, with cheese. It costs from $135 and holds 4.9 from 1,223 reviews on Viator.

If you would rather not find a meeting point, Ruta Chile’s Concha y Toro Vineyard Tour with Transfer on GetYourGuide picks you up at your hotel, drives about an hour each way and leaves you roughly two hours at the winery, where Concha y Toro’s own staff lead the visit. The standard option pours three wines; the Marqués de Casa Concha tasting with cheese comes only on its premium option, so check that price before you book. Its 4.3 rating is lower than Turistik’s. Our Concha y Toro tours page sets every version side by side.

Undurraga in half a day

Francisco Undurraga Vicuña founded Viña Undurraga in 1885 on the Fundo Santa Ana in Talagante, and its park was laid out by the French landscaper George Henri Dubois. The simplest way there is Tripantur’s Undurraga Vineyard Tour with Hotel Transfer on GetYourGuide: a driver collects you from hotels in central Santiago, Las Condes or Providencia, a winery guide leads about an hour and a half of touring and tasting, and you are home after about 4 to 4.5 hours. Morning and afternoon departures run all year. The operator says the driver does not speak English, so the English commentary happens at the vineyard, not on the road. A reviewer notes the pickup time arrives the night before.

The Concha y Toro and Undurraga Tour, or Undurraga Only from Ruta Chile also sells a short Undurraga option: about 4 hours, a pickup near 13:00 unless you request a morning slot in the booking comments, a 75-minute winery visit and three reserve wines. Read the option name at checkout, because reviewers who expected Concha y Toro from the title found they had booked Undurraga only. It holds 4.0 from 201 GetYourGuide reviews, and its from-price of $76 is not tied to either option. More on both in our Undurraga winery tours guide.

Cousiño Macul: a winery inside the city

Matías Cousiño bought the Hacienda Macul in 1856, and the winery building his son Luis oversaw opened in 1878. Because the estate is at Av. Quilín 7100 in Peñalolén, on Santiago’s eastern side, a visit there involves very little driving.

The winery’s own Cousiño Macul Heritage Wine Tour on GetYourGuide starts and ends on the estate, so you arrange a taxi or ride-hailing app there. The Traditional option pours three wines during the cellar walk; Premium adds three more with a charcuterie board in a private room; a Spanish-only Bike option is open to adults. It holds 4.9 from 167 GetYourGuide reviews.

For door-to-door service, the Cousiño Macul Private Winery Tour on Viator starts at 10:00 or 14:30, runs about 4 hours and charges a flat $90 per adult for up to 7 people per booking. The listing gives two different tasting counts, so confirm what you will be poured with the operator. Turistik’s Bahá’í Temple and Cousiño Macul tour spends about an hour at the Bahá’í House of Worship, dedicated in 2016 in the Peñalolén foothills, and about two hours at the winery.

Half day or full day?

A half day buys you one estate, a proper guided visit and your afternoon back. What it gives up is variety and a sit-down lunch: none of the short tours on this page includes a meal. Stamp’s Tour’s Maipo Valley Wine Tour with 4 wineries, by contrast, costs from $119 per person, takes about 10 hours and tastes at four wineries, with 4.9 from 2,725 reviews on Viator. Compare multi-stop days on our 4-winery tours page, and see which full days feed you on our wine tours with lunch page.

If whites or the coast appeal, Casablanca is a full-day trip; our Casablanca Valley wine tours page covers those.

Before you book

  • Age: Chile’s legal drinking age is 18. Turistik’s Marqués ticket and the Ruta Chile Concha y Toro trip admit only adults; on the Premium Wine Center bus, under-18s ride along but their ticket covers the transfer only.
  • Food: eat before you go. The Concha y Toro walk ends at a plaza with places to eat and a wine shop, and reviewers mention a café at Undurraga.
  • Pickup: Turistik uses meeting points; the GetYourGuide Concha y Toro and Undurraga trips come to your hotel.
  • Cancellation: every tour on this page can be cancelled free up to 24 hours ahead.

"This is an amazing tour! The guides were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They went above and beyond for us and always made sure we were ok. The overall experience at Concha y Toro was amazing and we highly recommend it. It’s beautiful and they have done a great job to showcase the work they do"

Erika R

"This was a well organized tour and my husband and I enjoyed the winery. The tour bus crew Javiera and Janet were informative and helpful and Ana at the site was truly great. Would recommend this tour to friends."

Michelle E

"This company first changed the tour I booked, then put me on a Spanish-speaking tour without warning. The worst part was when the tour was over at a winery where they dropped us off, they never came and picked us up at all! I had to pay"

Deborah G

"It’s a visit to a large winery. You visit the cellars and the fields, you get the local history of the wine, and you taste 4 wines. You also get a souvenir glass."

Larry M

"This was a 5 star excursion. Get out of the city and enjoy delicious wine and grapes at Vina Concha y Toro. Tour Guide and Bus Driver were top notch as well as the vineyard guide. Do it !"

MarieT B

"Our guide Valentina did an excellent job and we will recommend this tour to our friends. The tour at the vineyard was interesting and included a couple of nice surprises"

Louise B

"The vineyard itself is nothing special to be honest, very average and the tasting also. I got sick from having one of the empanadas at the vineyard snack place. The ride all the way there was okay but there was a lack of communication with the guide, he didn’t told us what time we should go back got the bus or was around at the end of the vineyard tour to ask questions about the departure. Also visit this vineyard in"

Andrea L

"Juan our tour guide was fabulous. Full of knowledge on variety of grapes, different wine producing valleys and local historical site significances. Francisco our bus driver was superb, and kept everyone safe."
