Maipo Valley Wine and Food Trail: La Quirinca, Labranza and Undurraga

About This Experience

Most Maipo day trips are a string of tasting rooms. This one from Stamp's Tour threads Chilean food through the route, so it fits travelers who care as much about the plate as the glass. The van starts its rounds at 7:30 am, covering hotels and Airbnbs in five neighborhoods (Downtown, Providencia, Las Condes, Vitacura and Recoleta), and you are back at roughly 6:00 to 6:30 pm after about 10 hours.

Breakfast comes as a tasting of typical Chilean morning foods, eaten between the hills and the river. Next is La Quirinca, a family-run farm winery: you see its vines, its small production space and cellar, and the alpacas, llamas and chickens it uses for natural weed and pest control, then taste its wine and a pisco. From there you walk out through avocado orchards toward the river to a second family vineyard, which pours three wines in the open air beside old barrel huts.

The midday stop is Labranza Restaurant, where seasonal produce goes onto the fire in view of the tables; the bar serves a house pisco sour and a beer made with Andean water. Book the Full wine trail option and the meal is covered; on the No Lunch included option you settle the bill yourself. Coffee and cocktails are never part of the price.

The afternoon closes at a historic estate the itinerary ties to Viña Undurraga, with its grounds, old cellars, a final tasting and a stop in the shop. Guiding is in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Departures need at least four passengers; below that the operator may cancel and offer an alternative or a full refund.

Excellent tour, knowledgeable guide with perfect English speaking skills, and comfortable passenger van. Great wines at Undarraga Vineyard and very friendly hospitable hosts at the family farm.

The half day tour was not filled so they put on full day tour which was Fantastic. The first winery was lovely. We tasted the different grapes, then wine and excellent guide. After to a fabulous restaurant Zinfandel; then to an eco farm winery. We had a ball…people from all over the world!

The winery was beautiful and Matthias was a great tour guide! Our driver to and from our AirBNB was excellent as well, extremely knowledgable about Santiago and included some scenic routes on the way home. We would highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for a half day event!
